A couple weeks ago my siblings and I cashed in our Christmas gift from our parents. The whole family was going to Disney! We packed all the things, checked the weather and woke up early to beat the heavy crowd. It was a blast. About halfway through the day we walked in a gift shop that exploded sparkles and characters over every colorful wall. I stood in the middle of a busy displays of Mickeys and Minnies, Elsas and Annas and pricey trinkets that we probably could find a lot cheaper a mile away.
In the corner of my eye I noticed something or someone stopping right beside me. I left my gaze of the stuffed animal I was considering and noticed a little girl smiling, then stopping realizing that I was not her mom. No worries her mom was right behind me, the little one just hadn’t looked up when walking towards what she thought was right.
Sometimes we do that same thing in life, don’t we?
Instead of looking at the next step, we instantly think its going in the right direction. It could be for a number of reasons, were busy, hurt over a situation or completely lost in the color of life and that causes us to miss the red flags or gentle reminders from our Heavenly Father.
This instance was a gentle reminder to my soul and I hope it can be for yours. Look where you are stepping, think about your choices, reaching for what you know to be true and refusing to let your mind wander and confuse your heart.
Let us strive to know the Lord
His appearance is as sure as the dawn.
He will come to us like the rain,
like the spring showers that water the land.
Hosea 6:3
Jesus I’m striving to know you. I’m looking for your guidance as I walk into what I know you want for me.
You always keep your promise of new mercy mornings.
Help us to step in the direction of your will for our lives.
