“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Matthew 6:33
Here I was, sitting, waiting for the construction on the same stretch of road. It had been MONTHS. “How much longer . . .” and then, I saw it. I hadn’t noticed it before – and I had traveled this road hundreds of times. Right where I was stopped, to my right and up on the hill, was one of the most unique old buildings! AND the purple trees blooming around it were absolutely gorgeous! I was stunned. How had I never seen this before? I had to take a picture!
And then it dawned on me. If I hadn’t been “held up” by the construction crew I would have missed it – AGAIN!
Being quarantined has its pro’s and con’s. Especially for those of us used to being “on the go.” After being in the house – for AWHILE – my husband suggested we take a drive. Along the way I spotted another old building. For some reason I really SAW this one. Maybe I was more alert after realizing what I’d been missing as I “rolled along” in my day without observing my surroundings.
At any rate, I noticed the building – not nearly as “cool” as the other old building in my opinion – and then, I noticed the magnificent blooms of the tree RIGHT BESIDE it! Like beautiful – right in the middle of – well, “not so beautiful.”
“Turn around,” I said to my husband. “I have to take a picture.”
“Are you serious?” He incredulously replied.
I was – so he did – most kindly I must say.
And it dawned on me . . .
Sometimes – life doesn’t shout out its beauty.Sometimes we have to LOOK for it. Even in the Kingdom of God this truth presents itself consistently. When we SEEK, we FIND.
So, in many ways our entire nation has slowed in this present day. Our lives look differently than they did only weeks ago. And in these days, “Let us be silent that we may hear the whisper of God.”
Seek to see with His vision and hear with His ears. What a treasure to find the beauty of His Word, the loving tones of His calling out to us His peace in the midst of turmoil. In these unusual days let’s draw up closer –taking time to be saturated with the Presence of HIM.
Oh, Lord, I’m asking for more of You. I’m seeking your vision in
these different days. I’m knocking on Your door knowing You will open.
My faith, and trust are in YOU. My love is Yours.
